Micro Blogging
I have always found micro Blogs such as Twitter or Facebook very entertaining as well as useful especially when it comes to keep in touch with people we aren't living near by. I have a bit of a hard time seeing a mirco-blog being a big part of my teaching career other than to keep in touch with people I have met or will meet in the domain of education. I definitely don't see myself using it with students of mind because I think theses websites are or can be personal. I wouldn't be comfortable being "friends" with all of my teachers currently because there are things that I like to keep to myself or at least don't want to share with people that I consider strangers. I would then not expect my students to have to share things about them with me.

The furture of higher education
I liked this post about the future of universities. This author is replying to another that is predicting that universities will disappear by 2020. That I thought was really an interesting subject because I often ask myself if they are really necessary. The author's reaction to the first one's theory was that they would change for the better bit definitely not disappear. I agree that there will definitely be some evolution in our higher education system and definitely some in the way people see higher education.
I personally think there are way too much Colleges and that there are way too many subjects that can be studied there. This has for effect to bring way too many students to go to college for reasons such as; they simply got in, that is what most people do after high school and to have fun !? In the end I found that College seems to be a "must do" for Americans. Now I have no problems with tradition but this too expensive to be a strictly be a tradition. This tradition as for effect that many students are left with huge amounts of student loans and a degree they really can't do anything with more than they could have done with their high school degree... I think universities are made for people that know they want to become first of all and that second of all have the ability to complete a degree that will almost guarantee them a job. I think colleges will go back to the way they where meaning that there will be less of them and less subjects you can study. I mean by that there won't be undergraduate degrees in Sociology or similar dead ended programs. This might sound harsh but in our economy one can't afford submerging in debts and have nothing to compensate for them.
